Notts County Set To Swoop For National League Star

Notts County are coming towards the end of a tremendous campaign in League Two. Martin Paterson’s side accumulated 80 points during the regular season, landing them in fifth place.

They then entered the playoffs where they faced Chesterfield. Considering the Spireites won both of their encounters this season, County weren’t particularly favoured.

However, they would win the first leg 1-0 away from home and see out a 0-0 draw at Meadow Lane to reach the final at Wembley, where they will face Salford City. Salford being another side to do the double over the Magpies this season.

Whilst all of that is going on on the pitch, County also seem to be making moves behind the scenes according to Football League World.

The New Kid On the Block

Leon Chambers-Parillon made the move to Southend United from Slough Town in January 2025, and it quickly became clear that the 24-year-old was capable of playing at a higher level. A technically gifted midfielder with tremendous athleticism, Chambers-Parillon has all the attributes to go far.

Capable of playing in midfield or off the left, the Englishman should fit nicely into Martin Paterson’s system. The Northern Irishman’s 3-4-2-1 could be perfect for Chambers-Parillon to slot in behind Alassana Jatta.

Even if he is not coming in to be an immediate starter, Chambers-Parillon has shown his effectiveness as a substitute, with defenders struggling to combat his incredible ball carrying abilities. Last season, he came off the bench to score in both the playoff quarterfinal and final.

Stock On the Rise

Chambers-Parillon is coming off the back of a strong season and a half with Southend.  In his debut campaign he scored two goals and provided five assists in 21 National League games.

Whereas this season, it was only yesterday that he started the FA Trophy final at Wembley as the Shrimpers secured the first domestic trophy in their history. He will be sorely missed at Roots Hall if he is to depart.
