Oxford United Push To Sign Millwall Irish Under-21 International

Oxford United are pushing to sign Aidomo Emakhu from Millwall, as per Dan Marsh.

The Lions are open to permanently selling Emakhu, after Millwall signed Tommy Watson. It is understood that both a permanent and loan with option deal are being explored.

What Aidomo Emakhu offers to Oxford United

The 22-year-old Irish winger possesses pace, flair and good dribbling skills on the ball.

The winger typically will beat his man however end product is where Emakhu is suspect to criticism.

The winger has just three goals and six assists from 82 appearances for Millwall. A third of this comes from this present season, with Emakhu on two goals and a single assist for the season.

From a Millwall perspective, it’s best for all parties should Emakhu leave.

The Irishman has been suspect to criticism from the fanbase for his lack of end product.

Should Millwall want to push on and seriously compete as a top level Championship club, players like Emakhu should look to be moved on.

From Oxford’s perspective however the deal makes a lot of sense.

The U’s sit in 23rd in the Championship, five points from safety. Matt Bloomfield’s side have recently lost their last league encounter against Birmingham City, with just a win over Leicester saving their blushes.

Adding Emakhu to their flanks offers pace and flair which has been lacking at times from the U’s.

Should Oxford stay up, Emakhu has experience at this level and can play apart next season.

However, a season in League One could be where Emakhu truly flourishes and builds confidence.

It’s a race against the clock for Oxford, to at least have the paperwork ready to submit a deal sheet in their attempt to sign Aidomo Emakhu.

As the 7pm deadline looms, could their be more incomings and outgoings at Millwall. Watch this space!
