Paul Warne Outlines MK Dons’ Promotion Pushing Strategy

Paul Warne says MK Dons current position is, ‘really pleasing’, but realises there is still work to be done. Talking from his vast experience he said, ‘you’re that close and you can taste it, but you’ve actually got nothing’.

The Dons sit second in the table, on the back of a fantastic win against league leaders Bromley last weekend. With a vastly superior goal difference to clubs around them, two wins from the final three should secure promotion.

With only one win in their last five, the Dons must not get carried away. Paul Warne affirms this by staying relaxed, pointing out, we’re a step closer’, and, ‘hopefully we can finish it off.

Nathaniel Mendéz-Laing

Dons attacker Mendéz-Laing has also called for calm, saying that the team will, ‘keep level headed’

He started his first game since December against Bromley, making an instant impact. He opened the scoring in 30 seconds, sending the Dons on their way to three points.

Mendéz-Laing recognises it will be a tough game against a playoff chasing side. He reaffirms the same message of, ‘cool heads and composure’.

While seemingly cliché, it is important for Dons fans to hear, knowing the players are also aware of the stakes.

Dons fans can be safe in the knowledge that the players are committed to getting the job done. Mendéz-Laing, speaking about the Crewe fixture said the team will, ‘roll our sleeves up’, and ‘hopefully our quality will come through’.

Crewe Alexandra Vs Milton Keynes Dons

Crewe go into this needing to win their final three games to have any chance of making the playoffs. Unfortunately for the Railwaymen, their final three are all teams above them in the table.

The Dons have it all in the own hands and just need to stay clear of the chasing pack. Currently three points clear of fourth, it would be an unbelievable late collapse for MK to not secure automatic promotion to League One.

Crewe Alexandra visit Chesterfield before hosting Cambridge on the final day. Meanwhile MK Dons will face Tranmere Rovers at Stadium MK, before travelling to Fleetwood Town.
