Sheffield Wednesday Manager Provides Pierce Charles Injury Update Following FA Cup Defeat

Sheffield Wednesday are currently looking destined to be relegated to League One at the end of the current Championship campaign.

The Owls, who sit bottom of the league, havs faced difficulties with the club put into administration late last year.

Furthermore, on the field, Wednesday have picked up just one win and, following 18 points worth of points deduction, the team currently have -7 points.

Meanwhile, to add to their troubles, in the FA Cup, the Owls were eliminated at the Third Round stage with Premier League outfit Brentford beating the side 2-0.

As well as this, in the game specifically, goalkeeper Pierce Charles had to be brought off the field and substituted for Logan Stretch in the 60th minute following an injury.

Now, with Sheffield Wednesday back on the defeat and towards their next game against Portsmouth at Hillsborough, Owls manager Henrik Pedersen has issued an update on the goalkeeper’s condition.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield following the defeat to Brentford, Pedersen stated: “It’s the opposite shoulder and right now we don’t know but he has a lot of pain, so maybe a scan tomorrow [Sunday] and maybe we’ll know more.

“It’s awful for him. He is such an important part of our way of playing, defensively and offensively, and how he has played since he came back is fantastic.

“It’s so sad if it’s another injury to keep him out for weeks or longer. I really hope the best for him, he deserves it.”

Pierce Charles has previously been injured with a shoulder problem earlier in the season that had kept him out of action for three months and which needed surgery.

Now, with this new injury occuring, Owls fans may look towards the Wednesday manager to see if he provides further updates on his condition and the result of the upcoming scan.
