Plymouth Argyle have completed the loan signing of 27-year-old midfielder Herbie Kane from Huddersfield Town.
Former Liverpool academy graduate, Kane, burst onto the scene in his first season in professional football in 2018/2019, where he impressed for Doncaster Rovers in their League One campaign.
Kane then spent the second half of the 2019/2020 season on loan at Hull City, where just 6 league starts in 7 total appearances for the club.
The start of the 2020/2021 campaign would see the midfielder make his first permanent move away from his boyhood club, when he joined Barnsley for a fee in the region of ÂŁ1.2 million.
After struggling for regular minutes that season, the 27-year-old completed a loan move to Oxford United in the 2021/2022 campaign where he impressed. This led to two consecutive 40+ game seasons on his return to Barnsley.
The Bristol born midfielder then signed for Huddersfield on a free transfer at the start of the 2024/2025 season, playing 28 times in League One for the Terriers registering 8 goal contributions.
A stellar start to the 2025/2026 campaign was cut short after he picked up a groin injury in Huddersfield’s 3-1 loss against Bradford City.
Currently deprived of fit experienced central midfielders after Joe Ralls’ injury against Luton Town, Plymouth Argyle will be hoping that someone of Kane’s pedigree can add quality and experience to Tom Cleverley’s young squad.
Argyle are also expected to complete the loan signing of defender Wes Harding from Milwall before the deadline this evening.
