Swansea City will be aiming for success in the closing months of the Championship season as the outfit look to avoid a relegation scrap.
The Swans, 16th in the Championship currently, lost 2-1 to Hull City on Saturday meaning they have won just one game in five attempts.
Meanwhile, the outfit have scored just 32 times whilst also conceding 37 times, putting them on a goal difference of -5.
With this in mind, City could look to recruit a striker in the closing stages of the window to help offer an option to the squad when current frontman Zan Vipotnik is unable to deliver.
Now, Swansea are exploring a move for Birmingham City striker Kyogo Furuhashi according to Pete O’Rourke on his X account.
The 31-year-old has featured 26 times for Birmingham so far this season in the Championship but has scored just once.
Meanwhile, the former Celtic man has scored two goals in three appearances in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup combined.
For Furuhashi, a move to Swansea could offer an opportunity to regain form and improve his goal-scoring figures for the season.
But, given the quality of Vipotnik, the Japanese international could find it difficult to make it into the team on the basis needed to build consistent form.
However, if he can hit the same form that he played with at Celtic (where he scored 86 times in 167 appearances), the 31-year-old could bring success to Swansea whilst proving to manager Vitor Matos that he deserves to be chosen consistently.
Whilst a decision on Swansea City’s pursuit of Kyogo Furuhashi is taking place, supporters of the Swans could look to see how he could benefit the squad in the short-term and long-term.
But, with the final week of the window now close, this decision may have to be quick if a deal is to be successful by Swansea.
