As per Alex Crook, reporting for talkSPORT, Watford are looking to appoint Neils Frederiksen who is currently the manager of Polish First Division side Lech Poznan.
The Dane is out of contact this season, making a switch to Hertfordshire for next season arguably more likely.
Niels Frederiksen was appointed head coach of Danish side Lyngby back in 2009, where he guided his side to sixth place in the Danish division.
The Dane lasted three years until 2012, when he won a promotion to the Superliga and claimed a 43.5% win record in 154 matches.
After this, the Dane was appointed Esbjerg fB manager, where he managed his side to the round of 32 in the Europa League, before eventually being knocked out by Fiorentina.
His first season resulted in a fifth-place finish, before a rough season just surviving relegation in 2015 saw Frederiksen lose his job.
A new challenge came for Frederiksen, this time as Denmark U21s boss. There he found himself with a 60.98% win record but the failed to win a major title.
Frederiksen stayed in Denmark and went on to take charge of Brondby in 2019, where he won one league title in the 20/21 season.
He managed a 44% win record in 143 matches before being sacked in November 2022 after a poor start to the season.
Next was a first spell in Poland, with his current club Lech Poznan, where he has spent the last two seasons.
The Polish side clinched their ninth league title in Frederiksen’s first season in charge, and have also claimed back-to-back titles, which included yet another title win this season.
Currently, Frederiksen has a 55.7% win record with a chance of playing in the Champions League next season.
Predominantly, the Danish Manager has occupied a 4-4-2 formation, but this season he has also experimented with a 4-2-3-1.
Lech Poznan have been dominant in possession under his guidance, averaging the second-highest in the Ekstraklasa.
At times, Frederiksen has shown evidence of being tactically adaptable, changing formations to put the opposition on the back foot
Some of the key players in the Danes’ formation are the strikers.
Both contrast each other. One is a target man, being the talisman of the front line and an aerial threat, whilst the other is clinical from balls in behind the defence using his pace.
Watford are renowned for sacking managers quickly, with owner Gino Pozzo not afraid to let his head coaches go.
An appointment that doesn’t seem realistic from the eye, given that Lech Poznan have a chance of Champions League Qualification, however looks very possible.
A long summer ahead could help Frederiksen if he is appointed to bring in the players that could suit his system, and help
Although he doesn’t have any experience in English Football, he has a good reputation for winning trophies, and this could be a big statement from Watford if it comes off.
