West Brom‘s Director Of Football, Andrew Nestor, has today left the club via mutual agreement.
Following an announcement by the club on X, as they released a statement, keeping the fans updated. Read the statement from West Brom below:
The statement released was inherently short, perhaps pointing towards a sign of pleasure, from the club after how Nestor’s stint has ended. They ended the statement with the following:
“The club thanks Andrew for his contributions and wishes him well in the future.”
The short but sweet goodbye, further indicates good riddance, rather than a sorry goodbye. Nestor’s role included signings, managers, and data analysis for the club.
It was clear to see the fans happiness to see the back of him. Many fans reacted similarly to his goodbye tweet.
With Nestor feeling the pressure, he stood down. With the EX-DOF keeping his goodbyes in the same form as the club. The aforementioned fans’ reactions were clear to see in the replies.
With one fan, Luke, commenting this:
The “Mess” in mention, is in regards to the current state the club is finding itself in, sitting in the relegation zone, and 22nd. Nestor’s appointments have been far from pretty at times. Which has directly translated to poor results on the pitch.
These poor performances mean that West Brom are winless in their last 7 games, not winning since before the turn of the year.
I covered more on Nestor, and his and the clubs demise, here.
Reports from Lewis Cox, who is the West Brom correspondent for the Express&Star, has indicated that West Brom will look to the Israeli Leagues for their next DOF.
West Brom will announce the recruitment of Dominic Price as their new Director Of Football. Price, who has a background of working at Liverpool, and Blackpool, currently resides at Macabib Tel Aviv.
Price is the clubs’ Technical Director, and has been highlighted as the fit for the role. He was appointed in Israel back in 2023. Price has relevant experience in England, and would be suited for the job. Price also has the necessary UEFA Coaching License A.
Following the departure of Nestor, the club also announced that Mark Miles would be returning to the club.
Miles worked under tepid times with Lai, and knows how to run a club effectively. Miles will come back to the club, as an Executive Director, which is separate to the replacement of Nestor.
Dominic Price is set to be announced shortly.
Thoughts on the departure, and arrivals, Baggies’ fans?
