During the 2024/25 Championship season, many players up and down the league were impressive throughout the season.
This made for one of the most impressive Championship team of the seasons in history.
However, a lot can happen in a season, and while some players have gone on to bigger and better things, others have not been able to replicate their success.
But where are the players who made the Championship team of the season for the 2024/25 campaign?
James Trafford had a historic season as Burnley got promoted in the 2024/25 season, as the British goalkeeper kept a record 30 clean sheets.
This record also included a historic 12 game run of consecutive clean sheets for Burnley.
This earned Trafford a return to his former club, Manchester City, for roughly £30 million.
However, with the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Trafford has been kept out of the starting squad and has been largely relegated to cup fixtures.
Leeds United signed Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United for roughly £5 million, and the right back made an instant impact.
The former Blade slotted in perfectly to Daniel Farke’s system and earned himself a spot in the team of the season.
Bogle has continued his great performances this season in the Premier League as Leeds currently sit in 15th place.
An integral part of Burnley’s strong defense, CJ Egan-Riley was a welcome addition to Burnley’s backline as he returned from a loan to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
However, Burnley lost the Englishman on a free transfer in the summer to Marseille.
This came as the defender rejected the option to sign a new contract at Burnley
Egan-Riley has been less impressive in France, but still a strong addition to the backline, making a total of 15 appearances so far.
The second Burnley defender of the team, Maxime Esteve formed a formidable connection with his center back partner CJ Egan-Riley.
The Frenchman has remained a starter for the Clarets as they returned back to the Premier League.
However, his, and his teams, performances have been unimpressive with the club struggling in 19th place.
Esteve has also been part of the worst defense in the league, with Burnley conceding a total of 58 goals so far this season.
The first Sheffield United player of the team, Harrison Burrows was a standout performer for the Blades after signing for the club from Peterborough United.
The left back made 12 goal contributions from left back as the Blades made it to the play-off final.
Burrows has continued to be a key player for Sheffield United this season, however he has been under more competition from players such as Sam McCallum.
While it looks unlikely that Burrows would make a second team of the season this year, he has still been an integral player for Sheffield United.
After an impressive season at 2. Bundesliga side Fortuna Dusseldorf, Leeds United acquired midfielder Ao Tanaka.
The Japanese playmaker was impressive as he helped Daniel Farke’s team win the Championship.
However, Tanaka’s role for Leeds has been downgraded significantly, with him largely being a squad player this season and starting most games on the bench.
Jobe Bellingham was an important figure in Sunderland’s midfield as they earned promotion though the play-offs.
However, the English midifelder did not follow his club to the Premier League, instead following his brother, Jude, to Germany for Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old hit the ground running in the FIFA Club World Cup and continued his good form into the Bundesliga.
Jobe has also captained the England U21 team, with him earning the captain’s armband against Ireland in November 2025.
The Championship player of the season, Gustavo Hamer was one of the most impressive players in the entire league last season.
Despite heavy interest from Premier League teams, Sheffield United managed to retain the Dutchman for this season.
However, Hamer has not been able to replicate his highly impressive performances this season.
His goal tally sits at just two in the league, compared to 10 last season.
While he is still one of the first name’s on Chris Wilder’s team sheet, it looks unlikely he will make another team of the season this year.
Getting 21 goal contributions from the right wing, Daniel James was a standout in a star-studded Leeds United team.
James followed his club to the Premier League, however just like many other players in this team, he has not been able to replicate his success.
The winger is yet to register a goal contribution at all this season, a huge disappointment considering his attacking contributions last season.
Borja Sainz was a key part of the second best attack in the league, as he was a part of 22 out of the 71 goals Norwich City scored.
Those impressive performances earned him a move to FC Porto in Portugal for approximately £14 million.
The Spanish winger has been a constant threat in both the Portuguese league and the Europa League this season.
His performances have helped his club establish a seven point gap at the top of the table.
Josh Sargent spent 3 full seasons in the Championship, and his final one was arguably his most impressive.
The American bagged 15 goals as well as contributing with five assists to earn his place in the team of the season.
However, Sargent had a very public dispute with higherups at Norwich this season, with the striker refusing to play as he wanted a move back to North America.
Sargent was granted this transfer in February when he would sign for MLS side Toronto FC for roughly £20 million.
Despite being a prolific goal scorer for the Canaries, his reputation amongst the fans has been tarnished due to the unprofessional manner of his exit.
