Wigan Athletic Officially Put Five Players Up For Sale

Wigan Athletic have released their retained list on their official website, putting five players up for sale as the Latics look to improve in the summer.

The club have announced that Joseph Hungbo, Baba Adeeko, Jonny Smith, Ronan Darcy, and Maleace Asamoah are all available for transfer ahead of the summer transfer window.

Wigan have also announced that Owen Moxon, Ryan Trevitt, Caylan Vickers, Raphael Borges Rodrigues, Callum Wright, and Joe Taylor have all returned to their parent clubs following their loan spells at the Brick Community Stadium.

Hungbo made 32 appearances for the club in the league this season, providing three assists but not scoring any goals. Adeeko, on the other hand, played just seven times for Athletic in the league this season having made 31 appearances for the club during the 2024-25 season.

Smith had been at Gillingham on loan during the season, with him making ten appearances, but made just two appearances for Wigan with just one of these coming in the league.

Darcy had been at Crawley Town, making 37 appearances for the Red Dragons in League Two whilst also scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Finally, Asamoah played in Ireland with Shamrock Rovers during the season and made six appearances in the Premier Division whilst also scoring once.

For those players who have been on loan at other clubs, and have been successful in their time away from Wigan Athletic, permanent deals with their loan clubs could be likely.

But, for those who did not go out on loan during the season, the task of finding their next club could be more difficult.

The summer transfer window provides the perfect opportunity for Wigan Athletic and these players to part ways and each of the five players will look to secure a move away from the club ahead of the new season starting later this year.
