Lincoln City are expected to announce the signing of Josh Honohan over the festive holidays.
The Shamrock Rovers man is joining the Imps in a deal worth around £440,000, a similar fee to what the Imps paid for Ivan Varfolomeyev.
Last summer the Imps were unlucky in their pursuit of Honohan, but they appear to have gone back for their old target.
Here we take a look at 3 things Josh will bring to the Imps:
Versatility
One of the main things Honohan brings with him is his versatility.
The Irishman has played across the back 4 and has even been known to occasionally play further forward, almost a left mid.
Left back is his primary position meaning summer signing Adam Reach could be utilised further forward if needed.
Ryley Towler has covered at left back, but the former Portsmouth man is primarily a centre back.
Goals And Assists
Honohan has played for Shamrock Rovers over 30 times this season, and despite being a left back, the 24 year old has ELEVEN goal involvements!
This includes 6 goals and 5 assists, according to sofascore. The Irishman will not be afraid to contribute at his new club.
A Winning Mentality
As previously mentioned, Honohan has been an almost ever present, playing 32 league games. The 24 year old has also played twice in the Europa League and has won both Irish Premier Division and the Irish Cup with his current employers.
This sort of form has helped his international credentials as well with Honohan being called up to the Ireland squad several times, however, he is yet to make his debut.
With it being widely expected to be announced soon, what do you think Honohan brings to the club? Will he go straight into Michael Skubala’s side? Could Honohan have gone to a Championship side? Let us know in the comments!
