5 FA Cup Ties That Could Have A Shock In Them!

On Monday Evening, the draw for the second round of the FA Cup was made, here we take a look at a few standout ties:

Chelmsford City Vs Weston-Super-Mare

Starting with Chelmsford City vs Weston-Super-Mare, both sides have a huge opportunity to advance into round three and face one of the biggest teams in England, therefore this is a crucial draw in round two, with both non-league outfits facing each other.

Chelmsford placed 14th in the National League South, while league rivals Weston-Super-Mare, placed 2nd are highflying in their league, making them favourites in this tie. In Round 1 of the FA Cup, Chelmsford City faced rivals Braintree Town where they came out on top in a thrilling 4-1 victory which sent them through to Round two.

Weston-Super-Mare faced Aldershot Town placed in the division above where they managed to cause an upset by winning the game 2-1 also sending them to Round 2.

Both non-league sides have a huge chance to make it to round 2, making it my tie of the round

Brackley Town Vs Burton Albion

Brackley Town, placed 17th in the National League, have been drawn against League One side Burton Albion with another winning opportunity to make it into Round 2, but with another difficult opposition two divisions above Brackley Town.

Recently pulling off an emphatic 4-3 win on penalties against Notts County after scoring a last-minute equaliser to send the tie to extra time, and eventually penalties, the side has huge potential to cause another upset against Burton Albion.

The Brewers won’t be an easy game however, after cruising past St Albans 6-0 in the first round. With the tie being there to be taken, will Brackley Town cause another upset?

Gateshead Vs Walsall

Gateshead, placed 15th in the National League face top of the table Walsall in League Two where both sides will be hoping for a ticket into round 3. Making it into Round 2, Gateshead caused another brilliant upset in Round one beating AFC Wimbledon who are placed two divisions higher than the club in a comfortable 0-2 win away from home proving their abilities in the cup.

The Saddlers, faced Eastleigh where they secured themselves into Round 3 with a calm and composed 0-3 win. Can Gateshead cause another upset in Round 2 against the high-flying Saddlers?

Grimsby Town Vs Wealdstone

Grimsby Town, placed 6th in League two secured their ticket into round 2, with a 3-1 win against Ebbsfleet Town, are also well known to cause upsets this season, especially beating big hitter Manchester United and championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup where they made it into the Round of 16, where their excellent run stopped against Brentford in a recent 0-5 hammering.

Therefore, the Mariners will be hoping to repeat cup success in the FA Cup, where they will have Wealdstone stepping in their way to prevent this. Wealdstone, placed 11th in the National League, have a huge opportunity on their hands to make it into round 3 and tie one of the biggest clubs that they will face in their history.

Beating league rivals Southend United 1-0 at home, can they be another non league outfit to cause an upset, or will the Mariners carry on their cup success this season?

Slough Town vs Macclesfield

My last pick of the round is the tie between Slough Town and Macclesfield Town. Slough Town are placed 21st in the National League South, and are in high hopes of making it into Round 3 of the FA Cup. Slough Town recently beat Altrincham 2-1 in the first round to secure their ticket into Round 2.

Macclesfield Town are also placed in the National League, however in the North division. Macclesfield Town recently beat AFC Totton in a thrilling 6-3 victory at home. Another tie for both non league outfits with the chance to make it into around 3, who will take the opportunity ?
