This article will summarize each of Posh’s signings whilst also including Ferguson’s comments and a summary of the departures at the club this summer. Let’s get started.
Arrivals At Peterborough United
Following an 18th place finish in the third tier last season, arguably, recruitment was needed to try and replicate the success of the season before, that had seen Ferguson’s side finish fourth and sixth in the league in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons respectively.

From experience to youth, the signing of Ben Woods from Accrington Stanley offers an insight into the future at Peterborough United. Furthermore, Woods is arguably an exciting young player who deserved a move to the third tier following last season.
Peter Kioso would then become Peterborough’s 12th signing. The 26-year-old joined Posh from Oxford United on a loan deal.

Departures At Posh
As well as arrivals, Peterborough United have seen several familiar faces leave the door and explore other opportunities elsewhere.
Firstly, Kwame Poku departed the club to join EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers. Poku had been at the centre of interest from the Championship and Premier League. The winger departed the club having made 147 appearances across four years.
Posh trio Jack Sparkes, Kabongo Tshimanga and David Ajiboye would then go onto depart the club as they joined Bristol Rovers, Crawley Town and Carlisle United respectively as free agents. Tayo Edun also joined Stockport County.
Arguably, one of the big talking points of Posh’s transfer window was the departure of Ricky Jade-Jones. The striker had been with Peterborough United since 2019 and had made 203 appearances in that time. Jade-Jones would go onto join German side St Pauli on a free transfer.
Hector Kyprianou also left Darren Ferguson’s side as he joined Watford. In his time at Posh, the defensive midfielder made 140 appearances and was a part of two play-off campaigns.
Emmanuel Fernandez was then the next name to depart the Weston Homes Stadium as he joined Scottish Premiership side Rangers. Malik Mothersille also joined fellow League One side Stockport County. His arrival to County will arguably bring experience and talent.
As well as first team players departing, younger players also left the club this summer. Two examples of this can be seen through the departures of Tyler Young and Oliver Rose to Ipswich Town’s Under-21s and Scunthorpe United respectively.
Finally, Bradley Ihionvien left Posh to join EFL League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a loan deal yesterday.
Ferguson’s Comments
Following the closure of the transfer window, Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson had his say.
Speaking to the club media on their official website, Ferguson stated that “with the window closing, we can reflect on our business and I think we have brought 16 players in, which hasn’t happened, certainly not in my time at the club.
People might argue ‘why did we wait’ or this, that and the other, but we have done it and we have recruited very well in my opinion.
What we haven’t done while we have been recruiting is to get good results, so that has put us under a little bit of pressure, which is understandable. We are not in a position where we can say ‘wait until everyone is fit and available for selection’, we have let ourselves down by not getting results.
Whatever we have done in the past in terms of personnel and formations, we are now in a position where we have more flexibility to change things.
We had to wait to get the right players in, but I am delighted with the recruitment, we are strong and if we are honest, we probably have too many players, but again, ones that were on the list and made available, have just not moved on.
We have managed to recruit despite that and I really appreciate the support and backing from the chairman. He has really supported me in this window.”
A Successful Window?
In the summer, Peterborough United brought 16 new players to the club and saw many others depart. With Posh currently sat bottom of the EFL League One table, Darren Ferguson will arguably be hoping that the players gel together quickly.
