AFC Wimbledon travel to Barnsley in a League One fixture in South Yorkshire as the Dons look for three points on the road.
This is a fixture which both sides come into on the back of losses.
The home side lost 3-2 away at Bolton Wanderers in the league whilst AFC Wimbledon were knocked out of the Vertu Trophy midweek at home to Northampton Town by two goals to one.
Despite Barnsley having won seven of the thirteen games at Oakwell this season, the Wombles sit fifth in the table for away points this campaign and so will travel there for the first time since 2018, with limited fear.
David McGoldrick is a name that the Dons will be familiar with, come Saturday, with him joining the Tykes after a two year spell in League two with Notts County.
He featured in the first leg of the Sky Bet League Two Playoff Semi-Finals last season against Wimbledon in which the Dons ran out 1-0 winners.
This campaign he has scored 7 goals and sits current top scorer at the club after recent January departure of star man Davis Keillor-Dunn to Wrexham who led on 13.
Barnsley did manage to keep a hold of young talent Reyes Cleary who has 5 goals and 10 assists in all competitions this season.
Several championship clubs showed interest throughout January with Barnsley rejecting offers in the region of £3 million for the 21 year old winger.
Wimbledon should expect Barnsley to set up in a 3-5-2 formation in which the wingbacks stretch the pitch and look to provide the target forward with crosses into the box.
A lot of goals tend to come from the wide areas with Scott Banks and Reyes Cleary making up the top two in the assist category within their ranks.
Ryan Johnson up against David McGoldrick could prove to be a physical battle.
Ryan Johnson has won 94% of his aerial duels this season and so Barnsley may look to play McGoldrick the ball on the ground in order to avoid feeding into the main strength of the Dons defender.
Both sides look to bounce back from recent defeats, however the wombles possess the momentum coming into this one ,with two league wins in a row for the first time since the 4th of October 2025, and will look to build on this form.
