Birmingham City are one of the teams that are approaching the final weeks of this year’s January transfer window, creating speculation about who they could sign to add to their squad.

The Bluenoses, 13th in the Championship after their first 28 games of the campaign, have signed Kai Wagner from Major Soccer League outfit Philadelphia Union whilst also signing Jhon Solis from Girona on a loan deal in the window.

Meanwhile, recently, Birmingham signed Ibrahim Osman on a loan basis whilst securing the signature of striker August Priske on a five-and-a-half-year deal from Djurgarden.

As well as this, away from signings, City have agreed a move for Brighton and Hove Albion winger Jeremy Sarmiento as they look to add to their squad further.

Now, the Bluenoses have been linked with a move for Chelsea left-back Harry McGlinchey with the 18-year-old being told he can leave the club according to Pete O’Rourke on X.

The journalist has also revealed that any deal with include a sell-on-clause.

However, Birmingham City are not the only side battling for the 18-year-old with Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United also striving for a successful deal.

McGlinchey has not made any appearances this season although has previously featured for Chelsea’s Under-21s and Under-18s.

As well as this, he has featured for Ireland at youth level with him appearing for the Under-19s and Under-17s.

With O’Rourke now revealing that the three sides are battling between each other for Harry McGlinchey, attention could turn towards Birmingham to see if they can win the fight for the 18-year-old.

Furthermore, supporters could look towards the Blues’ squad to see where McGlinchey could fit into the Birmingham squad.

However, with the window approaching the final weeks, the sides competing for the teenager’s signature may have to be swift and convincing in their negotiations for him.
