Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa defender Triston Rowe on loan, as the Championship enters the second half of the season.
The 19-year-old right-back has been impressing at French Ligue 2 side FC Annecy, where he has played every league match since joining on a season-long loan.
Rowe has showcased his versatility, lining up at right-back, centre-back, wing-back, and even in midfield and attack. His only goal came in a match-winning performance against Clermont Foot in October.
A former West Brom talent, Rowe joined Aston Villa in 2021 and has steadily progressed through the youth ranks.
He has represented England at U18, U19, and U20 levels, including a recent call-up for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship alongside teammate Kadan Young.
With a break clause reportedly active in his current loan, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday are monitoring the situation closely.
Villa are open to a mid-season move to help Triston Rowe continue his development while gaining experience in England’s second tier.
Rowe’s versatility makes him an appealing option. At Blackburn, he could provide cover and competition for Callum Brittain on the right side of defence. Wednesday, meanwhile, see him as a replacement for Pol Valentin, who is set to leave at the end of his contract.
