Blackpool Set to Sign Crystal Palace Defender

Imray To Blackpool?

Steve Bruce’s Blackpool are set to beat Lancashire rivals, Bolton Wanderers and other League One clubs to sign Crystal Palace defender, Danny Imray on loan.

Imray spent last season on loan at League Two Bromley, impressing so much he was subject to a £750,000 big from Wycombe Wanderers in January, which was turned down.

With the next phase of the 21-year-old’s career a step up to League One, it was reported that Bolton, Huddersfield Town and Blackpool were all interested in the player, with the Tangerines now looking likely to win the race.

The right-sided defender played 34 times for Bromley, netting twice and getting seven assists in the club’s first season in the modern EFL.

Imray will now join up with the seaside team, almost replacing the last season’s loan defender, Odeluga Offiah, who has since joined Preston North End from Brighton Hove & Albion.

Whilst Offiah offered Bruce a versatile defender who could play centrally, Imray brings a different profile, one that is more attacking and can play anywhere up and down the right-hand side.

Blackpool’s Ambitious Summer

The 21-year-old Imray would only add to an already impressive summer for Blackpool so far.

Bruce’s men have been ambitious early doors within this transfer window, adding Niall Ennis from Stoke City permanently, after the striker netted seven goals in 19 appearances during his loan spell.

The Seasider’s followed it up by bringing in Leyton Orient midfielder Jordan Brown. 24-year-old Brown was an integral part of Orient’s run the playoff final, playing 46 League One games for Richie Wellen’s team last season.

Fraser Horsfall has joined from Stockport County, alongside George Honeyman, who has made the step down a division to join Bruce’s men.

The addition of Imray would continue to add to a Blackpool side that is beginning to be tipped for a promotion push as they keep beating rivals to impressive signings.
