Bolton Wanderers To Return For Irish Striker

Bolton Wanderers will return for Celtic Striker, Johnny Kenny after their bid of a reported £500,000 was rejected.

Steven Schumacher has been making huge overalls to the Trotters squad, delivering his promise of big changes at the club.

With the help of new Sporting Director, Fergal Harkin, Schumacher has already been able to bring five new faces whilst letting last seasons top scorer, Aaron Collins, depart the club for big spending MK Dons.

The loss of Collins now means Bolton have let their two of their top goal scorers go in the last two windows, with Dion Charles leaving for Huddersfield Town in January.

Schumacher, who bemoaned the lack of physicality up top last season, has acted quickly, securing the services of 6ft 3 forwards Sam Dalby, who scored 15 times in 35 appearances whilst on loan at Dundee United last campaign.

It appears Wanderers scouts are fond of the Scottish market, with the club bringing in St Mirren defender Richard Taylor, before launching a bid for Celtic forward Johnny Kenny.

22-year-old Kenny is coming off a second half of the season to forget, netting once in seven games for the Scottish champions.

This form may leave a lot to be desired, but it is his prior time on loan in his homeland with Shamrock Rovers that shows what Kenny is capable of.

In 74 appearances for Rovers, the young forward netted 24 times including five goals in the Europa Conference League. It was this form in Europe that saw Kenny return to Celtic Park in January of this year.

What Is Kenny’s Profile?

Kenny offers a different profile to new addition Dalby. Despite being just one inch shorter than his potential new teammate, the 22-year-old’s game is based much more off using his pace to beat defenders in behind.

After their initial bid was rejected, it is reported that Bolton will return for the player, in the hope of building a more physical strike force as they push for promotion out of League One.

The Irish youth international has two years left on his current deal with Celtic but is said to be open to a move that would allow him to play. The Scottish champions remain adamant they believe the player has a part to play for them, but should Wanderers meet their evaluation, things could move quickly.
