Bradford City defender Brad Halliday has departed the club today.

Scottish Premiership side Dundee FC confirmed the signing of Bradford City fan favourite and defender Brad Halliday on a permanent transfer this morning.

This comes following a report by Pete O’Rourke that Halliday was set to sign for Dundee.

The signing also follows the 30-year-old running out of contract at the end of the season at his previous club, Bradford City.

As well as this, the news comes the day after Alexander’s side signed right-wing back Harrison Ashby on loan from Newcastle United, who played in the Championship at QPR last campaign.

Now it is considered that the departure of the former Fleetwood Town man can positively and negatively affect the Bantams.

Therefore, here are a couple of things that can affect the club below.

How Will Brad Halliday Leaving Bradford City Affect The Club?

Decreased League One Experience

Through the Englishman’s career, we can see that the defender had a wealth of experience in League One, which you could see in his gameplay.

Throughout his time in League One, he was able to make 91 appearances, which included his time at Doncaster Rovers and Fleetwood Town.

So, considering this factor, it could arguably negatively affect the Bantams in the potential promotion pursuit as they have lost Halliday’s experience on and off the pitch.

Less Adaptability

In the 30-year-old departing the club, the Bantams are arguably becoming less adaptable.

This judgment comes because throughout Halliday’s career at Bradford, he occasionally filled in at right centre back within Graham Alexander’s back three when injuries were present.

As well as this, fans could argue that Halliday is a more defensive right wing back when compared to Josh Neufville.

Therefore, this could potentially limit the chances of the Bantams holding onto a narrow lead in matches, as the defender won’t be able to be substituted onto the pitch when the Bantams are under pressure.
