Five Players Bradford City Could Sign In January 2026

Bradford City currently sit in the top half in EFL League One although could look to recruit in the January transfer window.

The January transfer window is approaching with Bradford City sitting third in the EFL League One table following the opening 15 games of the 2025-26 season.

But, with January on the horizon, the Bantams could look to improve their squad to both give themselves more depth in certain areas whilst also giving City more chances of success.

This article outlines five potential signings that Bradford City could pursue in the upcoming transfer window.

Bradford City Potential Signings

Regan Linney

Regan Linney has scored 12 goals in the National League so far this campaign with the forward also assisting on four occasions as well.

Furthermore, in the striker’s last spell at Altrincham, the 28-year-old scored 45 times in one hundred appearances.

Meanwhile, combined, Bradford City’s four recognized strikers have scored just six goals between them during the League One campaign thus far.

With this in mind, the addition of Linney to Graham Alexander’s squad could help to provide quality and more depth.

However, questions could arise about his ability to make the step up from the National League to the English third tier.

Freddie Ladapo

Across his career, Freddie Ladapo has played at clubs such as Huddersfield Town, Rotherham United, and Plymouth Argyle.

At these clubs along with others, the forward has scored more than one hundred times showing his ability in front of goal.

However, at Huddersfield, the 32-year-old struggled to make a mark scoring just once in 25 appearances for the club.

Therefore, a move to the University of Bradford Stadium may offer the chance for Ladapo to establish himself and hit more positive form.

Eoghan O’Connell

Eoghan O’Connell currently plays for Wrexham and made 39 appearances in the Red Dragon’s promotion winning League One run last season.

However, since Phil Parkinson’s side made the step up to the EFL Championship, the central defender has struggled for gametime with O’Connell only featuring in small parts thus far this season.

With this in mind, a move to Bradford City could be beneficial both for the defender and for City with O’Connell bringing promotion winning experience and depth to the side whilst also giving the centre-back more regular gametime at a club.

Jayce Fitzgerald

Jayce Fitzgerald is part of Manchester United’s Under-21s set-up currently and plays in midfield.

Furthermore, the 18-year-old has featured seven times for Manchester United Under-21s in the Premier League 2 so far this season whilst scoring once in these appearances.

As well as this, the midfielder has been linked with League One clubs already with the Daily Mail reporting that several sides in the division are looking to acquire his services.

But, a move to Bradford City, who rank second in the average League One attendances for this season, could offer the chance to Fitzgerald to play in front of 20,000 fans regularly whilst providing depth to Graham Alexander’s midfield.

However, at just 18, the ability of Fitzgerald to manage the pressure of playing for the Bantams could fall under scrutiny.

Callum Connolly

In his time at Stockport County this campaign, Callum Connolly has featured 13 times for the Hatters in the league.

Furthermore, the 28-year-old has won 68.4% of his duels and 69.4% of his aerial duels in these encounters whilst also boasting a passing accuracy of 83.5%.

As a central defender, Connolly could boost the amount of options available to Alexander in that position aiding him in his 3-4-2-1 shape.

Meanwhile, the former Lincoln City man’s contract expires at the end of the campaign arguably creating questions about his future, which could be at Bradford.

But, with County flying high in League One and with the defender receiving regular game-time, this option can be said to be the most ambitious of the five named.
