Bristol City suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat on Friday evening to Derby County in the Championship. Gerhard Struber has decided to act whilst the iron is hot.
The Robins are targeting a deal for 23-year-old centre-back Noah Eile from New York Red Bulls, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Swedish-born defender started at Malmo, where he made three appearances for the club. He would then go onto make 46 outings across two seasons for Mjallby, where he scored one goal.
In 2024 he would sign for New York Red Bulls where he has made 59 appearances, scoring once.
Eile has also appeared for Sweden, making 34 outings from Under 17 level all the way up to the 21’s.
Romano has also stated that Eile has already ‘yes’ to the deal.
The Robins have struggled for form recently, losing twice in their past four matches, including the mauling by Derby County. This has seen the club drop out of the play-off picture sitting in ninth position in the Championship. Struber will be hoping that the signing of Eile, once confirmed will help his team to regain their form.
Speaking at the time of Eile signing for the Red Bulls, former chief Jochen Schneider said: “Noah is a promising young defender that we are excited to add to our roster. Although Noah is young, he has a lot of experience in Sweden’s top division and has the qualities we value in a defender. We cannot wait for him to get started with us.”
Meanwhile, their ex-head coach Sandro Schwarz added: “We are very happy to sign Noah with our club. Noah is talented defender with a great skillset, and we are excited to see him on the pitch at Red Bull Arena this season.”
Up next for Bristol City….. A trip to third-placed Hull City!
