Reported by Anthony Joseph on X ,Bristol City are set to make another signing, this time for Strum Graz midfielder Tomi Horvat, with the Slovenian international flying over today to finalise the deal.

Since the window began, Bristol City have seen a plethora of changed across the squad, with midfield reinforcements already linking up this January, with Sam Morsy joining on a free transfer from Kuwait, alongside George Earthy’s return on loan from West Ham United.

Horvat is a regular in the Austrian sides starting eleven, featuring on seventeen occasions for Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, alongside making cameos in all eight of Sturm Graz’ Europa League fixtures, including scoring two goals, both coming against both Scottish sides (Celtic and Rangers).

Furthermore, given additional funds becoming available since Anis Mehmeti and Zak Vyner made the switch to rival Championship sides, Gerhard Sruber now has the freedom to bolster his squad as the Robins look to make a late playoff push in the second half of the season.

Who is Tomi Horvat?

Horvat’s career in football began in his native Slovenia, developing as a part of several youth teams before making his professional debut with NŠ Mura in the Slovenian top division. He quickly established himself as a key player thanks to his strong passing, smart movement, and an eye for contributing goals and assists from midfield.

In 2022, Horvat joined Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga, immediately becoming a regular starter and featured prominently in both domestic and European competitions. Internationally, Horvat has featured on twelve occasions, making his debut in March 2022.

At twenty-six years of age, perhaps a move to English football would be the next step in his development, with Bristol City needing cover in the attacking midfield positions, likely rotating with Scott Twine and George Earthy in Bristol City’s 3-4-2-1 formation they regularly utilise.
