Oxford United are on the hunt as they look to build their squad ahead of the closing months of the 2025/26 season.

According to Oxford Mail, after having a bid rejected, Oxford United are still in pursuit of Reading midfielder Charlie Savage.
This signing will be the third player brought in by new manager Matt Bloomfield who is trying to complete the Great Escape as Oxford find themselves 23rd in the Championship, with 5 points between themselves and safety.
Charlie Savage started his youth career playing for Premier League giant Manchester United where he gained his professional debut.
Shortly after this, Savage was sent out on loan to Forest Green Rovers in January of the 2022-23 season. After his loan, Reading signed Savage on a four year deal.
Charlie Savage is a powerhouse in the middle of the park, giving 100% effort in his pressing to win the ball back for The Royals.
Being very comfortable on the ball, Savage can create brilliant chances for his teammates, this in addition to his powerful finishing and set piece plays, at only 22 years of age he is a star that many teams should look out for.
Combined with his playing ability, Charlie Savage is a leader and very vocal on the pitch for Reading, if he were to leave Reading this January, a large hole would be left in the squad with all the momentum recently built possibly being slowed down.
With all of these positives it makes sense why Oxford are still very interested in the Welshman. What do you guys think, should Savage leave Reading? Are Oxford going in for the right player to save them?
