According to Pete O’Rourke, Cheltenham Town are set to complete the signing of former Fulham forward Terry Ablade on a free transfer.
The 23-year-old, who is predominantly a striker, signed for Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle on loan from Fulham.
Here, he managed to net 2 goals and pick up two assists in 28 appearances for the Scottish Club after completing an underwhelming loan spell at Carlisle United during their League One relegation season and picked up two assists.
So far, the Finland striker has struggled to break through into Fulham’s first team, with him only making one appearance within the EFL cup during the 2022/23 season.
Cheltenham Town Starting Poor And Where To Improve
As for Cheltenham Town, who have started the season poorly and are sitting bottom with one point after finishing 15th last season. The former Carlisle United man will add more depth to Cheltenham’s front line as he looks to stay at a club permanently and receive a run in a side. As well as this, Cheltenham Town look to increase the amount of goals they score after only scoring two so far this season.
A player who is an out-and-out striker could be what Cheltenham needs, with additional pressure added to Lee Angol, who has not picked up a single goal, and George Miller, who has only netted one.
With Ethon Archer most likely departing the club to join Luton Town after agreeing a deal and likely to loan him back to Cheltenham, according to Pete O’Rourke, the forward, who scored 8 goals for the club last season, is deemed crucial for Cheltenham for them to be successful.
At the age of 23, Ablade is inexperienced but when he does make the move, the players at Cheltenham around him will support him and develop him and he will eventually become good.
