Colchester United have strengthened their goalkeeper position with a new, major appointment which targets the position.
Colchester United are one of 24 sides aiming for success in League Two this season.
The U’s, who currently sit eleventh in the division, have picked up 31 points so far this season.
Furthermore, the side have won eight games, drawn seven, and lost six.
Meanwhile, Colchester have also scored 35 goals but have conceded 26 goals as well.
These stats put the U’s as the third best scorers in the division.
As well as this, the side have also created the third most big chances in the league (57) whilst also creating the third most expected goals (33.4).
However, with the January transfer window coming up, the side may choose to recruit to tighten their defence, strengthen their goal scoring abilities, and provide stronger foundations.
Now, the side have completed their latest signing with a major addition being announced in the goalkeeping position.
According to the Daily Gazette, Colchester United have appointed Dominic Coleman as their new goalkeeping coach.
His appointment follows the departure of Yilmaz Aksoy, who left to partner up with the FA.
Coleman was last with Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest where he worked, most recently, as the first-team assistant goalkeeper coach.
Meanwhile, he has also completed spells with Queens Park Rangers, Millwall, Barnsley, and York City amongst others.
He also works with the Football Association of Wales, as the nation builds young goalkeepers.
Furthermore, Dominic Coleman also holds the UEFA A license and UEFA A goalkeeping license.
Commenting on the move, first-team manager Danny Cowley stated: “Dominic’s come in from Nottingham Forest. He’s a really experienced goalkeeper coach.
“He was with the 21s and went up to the first team with Ange Postecoglou.
“Unfortunately, it didn’t last so long for Ange with football as crazy as it is and, in the meantime, I think they’d replaced their 21s [goalkeeper] coach so he was someone who became available.
“He’s a local guy and we’re really pleased to have him with us.”
Now, Coleman will get to work with first-team goalkeepers Matt Macey, Tom Smith, and Harrison Chamberlain as the side looks to boost its goalkeeping.
