Sources have told The Lower Tiers that Bromley centre-back Deji Elerewe is set to miss tomorrow’s top-of-the-table clash against Swindon Town ahead of a move to an unnamed League One side.
With Elerewe’s contract running out at the end of the season, the Ravens have opted to cash in now for the 22-year-old and should receive a comfortable six figure fee.
Elerewe has spent four years at Hayes Lane where he has accumulated 64 appearances for the first team.
Among his time, the centre back has scored some important goals for Bromley- most notably his headed winner against Woking in the 2022/23 National League Playoff Eliminator.
However this season, Deji has established himself as a key component of Bromley’s solid defense where he has featured 23 times in the Ravens’ push towards League One.
While Deji’s departure will certainly leave a substantial void in Bromley’s back line and be a great blow in their automatic promotion hopes, Kyle Cameron is expected to step up as he will now likely partner Omar Sowunmi.
The 29-year-old Scotsman has great experience and Bromley will hope that Cameron emulates the same role he played when he helped guide Notts County to promotion in 2022/23.
This outgoing does initially seem unexpected, however Bromley’s earlier reported interest this January window in centre backs Isaac Lee and Chanse Headman indicates that a defensive departure was likely.
Although Deji Elerewe is set to leave Bromley, his exact destination hasn’t been revealed with the greatest amount of detail provided of his next club is that they are in League One.
Albeit, with Elerewe likely wanting to remain in London and also the fact that he played under Johnnie Jackson at Charlton, AFC Wimbledon could be the side that Elerewe will join.
Another League One club that has been rumored to want Deji Elerewe is Wycombe Wanderers who Bromley faced earlier this season in the Carabao Cup.
