Three EFL Clubs Who Could Sign Wolves Player Dexter Lembikisa

Dexter Lembikisa could be looking for a new club following a potential departure at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Team Of The Week

Dexter Lembikisa made his debut for Wolves in the FA Cup against Liverpool and since then he’s been a loaned player.

But, the Jamaican international will be a free agent come the summer of 2026 and currently there are no intentions from Wolves to renew his contract any further.

Doing stints in the lower divisions of England, Switzerland, and Scotland, the right full-back needs gametime and a team switch if he is to have a career to match the potential that was shown four years ago.

Lembikisa, 22, has played 65 games in his career which is not a lot compared to someone like Lamine Yamal who has played over 150 games in his career and is only 18 years old.

Now, in no way are we saying Dexter and Lamine are the same class.

But, seeing as he is starter for his country, it would be smart to prioritize his club football to maintain sharpness rather than try to earn it on international duty.

Being a free agent wouldn’t be the end of the world as many talented players become free agents and re-invent themselves. A fresh start.

Right now he doesn’t show that he has the quality to play at a high level currently, and frankly arguably shouldn’t be a starter for his country.

So where could he go? Is he definitively going to stay in England to play his football or move elsewhere?

Today, we are going to look into three EFL teams that could take a punt on the right back for the upcoming season.

Three Clubs Who Could Sign Dexter Lembikisa

Crawley Town

The Red Devils were relegated from EFL League One last season and are currently struggling in EFL League Two.

So far this season, they sit 21st in the division, one point from the relegation zone.

This is possibly the lowest that Lembikisa could go based on league position.

But, this would still be a good team to join due to a number of factors.

Firstly, they have conceded the most goals in the division to date with 45. Defensive stability is arguably what he would bring to the squad.

Currently, Crawley Town line up with Harry Foster at right wing back who is one of the worst defensive players in the division this season.

Going forward, he is a decent player but he is a slight liability for his team when it comes to winning duels and breaking up the play.

Dexter could be slotted right into the back five that Scott Lindsey has deployed.

Due to his effectiveness on both feet as well, he could be played as a left wing back as well, moving Josh Flint back to centre back.

Grimsby Town

The high of beating Manchester United have well and truly worn off and Grimsby Town find themselves 12th in League Two.

The team at Blundell Park currently have options like Tyrell Warren and Harvey Rodgers at right back but both could be considered at their best position at centre back.

Grimsby currently have a poor attacking outlet from their fullbacks.

With both players 27 years old or older, some young blood would be good within the squad to potentially push for a promotion spot next season.

One of his best attributes are his ability to go forward and whip crosses into the box.

The defender also does have a good shot on him which could be a surprise outlet for goals to propel the team to a higher level.

Salford City

Another League Two outfit, but this team is closer towards promotion as they sit fourth in the league. Salford City are looking to get promoted and become a League One side again.

The class of ‘92 led team currently deploy wingers in the defensive positions and it leaves them susceptible to the back-post headers.

Bringing in Lembikisa, a player that has the experience of international football and League One football, would be a master stroke by the ownership and a key player for Karl Robinson.

Dexter Lembikisa could raise his stock later this year if he can help Jamaica qualify for the World Cup.

It could also help him become a key member in the eleven, which could increase the amount of teams willing to take a chance, and a higher level potentially.
