Doncaster Rovers have confirmed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur youth prospect, Damola Ajayi on loan for the season.
The 19-year-old is highly thought of at Spurs, making his senior debut in the Europa League last season, scoring in a nine-minute cameo against Swedish sided Elfsborg.
The young attacker has been an ever-present in Spurs different academy sides, netting four times and getting three assists when available for the youth side last season.
Alongside a blistering start, Ajayi has also been present on the Tottenham bench on several occasions, including the Europa League Final victory over Manchester United.
After beating off other EFL competition, Doncaster will provide Ajayi’s first full season at senior level.
Grant McCann will be hoping they can help the 19-year-old replicate the high level of performances they saw from last years Premier League loanee, Teddy Sharman-Lowe.
The Chelsea goalkeeper played 50 times for Rovers in 2024-25, keeping 13 clean sheets as McCann’s men took home the League Two title.
Ajayi can play anywhere across a front three but has often been deployed at right wing. The youngster brings pace and power but will be raw when it comes to the final third.
Despite this McCann and Rovers believe he can be the x-factor that helps keep the South Yorkshire side in League One.
The Need For More Goals
Doncaster, believe they need to find more goals at the top of the pitch in order to secure safety, Ajayi will join new addition Luke Middleton and existing players, Luke Molynuex and Jordan Gibson as the men out wide creating those opportunities.
Ajayi is Rovers seventh signing of the summer after Kyle Hurst and Thimothee Lo-Tutala rejoined on loan and Matty Pearson, Robbie Gotts, Brandon Hanlan and Middleton joined the club.This move matches Rovers early ambition in the transfer window, with McCann determined to keep the side in the third tier of English football.
