Doncaster Rovers are set to complete the loan signing of Houston Dynamo forward Toyosi Olusanya.
The 27-year-old, who is predominantly a left winger, but can also play as a striker if needed, signed for the American side in April this year for an undisclosed six-figure fee from St Mirren.
Here, he scored 19 goals in 85 appearances for the Scottish club after joining from Middlesbrough in July 2022 after an underwhelming year at the Teesside club, where he made three appearances in his only season there.
So far at Houston Dynamo, he has struggled for game-time, having only made one start for the club, and playing a total of 134 minutes in all competitions, only providing one assist for the club that currently sit 12th in the western conference of the MLS.
Doncaster Rovers: Starting Well And Where To Improve
As for Doncaster Rovers, who have started the season well after winning League Two, sitting in 8th place as the time of writing, he would add some depth in the attacking areas as he looks to get some more regular gametime back in his home country and his soon-to-be new club aim to consolidate their good start to the season, following a start where they have only lost one game, winning three and drawing the other.
A player who can play multiple positions could be what Doncaster need, with additional pressure to be applied to current starting left winger Glenn Middleton, who has provided two assists so far this season.
With Billy Sharp now 39 years old, his pace may have gone a little bit, and Olusanya could provide a different threat to other sides with his versatility.
At the age of 27, he is at a good age. It may take him a little while to get to speed due to potential jetlag, but he could make a positive impact once he is ready.
