Ed Still is set to leave Watford FC at the end of the campaign no matter the result against league winners Coventry City as reported by Adam Drury in the Watford Observer on Sunday afternoon.
Ed Still’s time at Watford has been disappointing and frustrating for all supporters. Failure to seal victory in the last six games home and away combined is the catalyst for this.
Still took over as Watford boss following the two game tenure of Interim manager, Charlie Daniels after being highly regarded to the club by football agent, Mogi Bayat.
As Hornets supporters know, the rate in which managers are fired and appointed is extremely high and many supporters knew that this would most likely be the inevitable.
The team has produced inconsistent performances over the last eight appearances and this has led fans to question the long term strategy at the club as a whole.
Ed Still struggled to make an impact on changing the “Poor culture” at the club that fans and managers alike have called out. He was faced with a mammoth task when accepting the role as Watford head coach as he inherited an already fractured team of misfits.
The likes of Mattie Pollock has spoken out against the squad in defence of the head coach yet there is no substance that supporters have seen on the back of that by way of results.
Still has been highly critical of the squad however has not spoken out against the board of the club for a lack of interest and lack of longevity within the team which former coaches Javi Gracia and Chris Wilder have done and called out.
His tenure at Watford wont be remembered by the fans in positive light.
Many fans regard Ed Still’s reign as the worst appointment and tenure in the Pozzo era which takes over from fans previous statements about current Bristol City manager, Roy Hodgson, being the worst appointment.
His dedication to the team doesn’t go unnoticed but the product received has not gone to the heights of what people originally thought he may or may not of got to.
The hunt for a new Watford FC coach is underway. The current bookies favourite to take over the role is Spanish Second Division manager Gracia Piminenta which was always seen to be Gino’s top pick before Scott Duxbury appointed fan favourite Javi Gracia.
