EFL Monthly Awards

West Yorkshire wipe up: EFL Monthly awards announced.

Leeds United had a very busy Friday morning, Leeds United’s Daniel Farke and Daniel James won the Championship manager and player of the month awards respectively.

Leeds took a maximum 15-point return from their five February fixtures, including two comeback wins against promotion rivals Sunderland and Sheffield United.

Farke, Via the EFL website said: “We were delighted to win all six of our matches in February, which was a great collective achievement. This award is a result of the hard work of everyone involved and we hope to continue in the same vein.”

With three goals and as many assists in the month, Dan James won the player of the month, his most noticeable performance in February being a brace away at Watford in the Whites’ 4-0 win.

James also managed two assists in the dramatic victory at Bramall Lane, a win that firmly cemented Leeds position at the summit of the Championship table.

West Yorkshire neighbours Bradford saw manager Graham Alexander and star-man Antoni Sarcevic awarded League Two Manager and Player of the Month respectively.

It comes after the Bantams’ rich run of form throughout February, overflowing into March. Alexander’s side accumulated 13 points from a possible 18 during February.

The City boss speaking to the club’s official website said: “I am delighted to receive this award on behalf of all the players and staff that have contributed to our form this season.

“They continue to work extremely hard to produce positive results for our club and they thoroughly deserve this recognition.”

And there were no surprises as Chris Davies (Birmingham) was named the Sky Bet League One manager of the month award.

The Blues have been relentless across the board this season and February was no let-up; they conceded one goal all month and won 13 points from a possible 15 in the league.

Chris Davies may not get the credit he deserves for the league leaders’ success, given their financial backing and the squad they have assembled. However, any manager who has his side on track for over 100 points and a league title in his first season should be recognised.

Niall Ennis (Blackpool) won the February League One player of the month award. The Stoke City loanee scored four goals across the month for the Seasiders– including a brace away at Crawley Town.
