Emmanuel Dennis has just had his Nottingham Forest contract terminated by mutual consent and he is reportedly keen to continue playing his football in England. So how did this once £15m player find himself without a club at just 27 years of age?
The Journey Of Emmanuel Dennis
After making his name in Belgium with Club Brugge, Dennis made the move to Watford who had just been promoted back to the Premier League. In 33 Premier League appearances, Dennis would score ten goals and provide six assists despite Watford finishing fifteen points from safety.
This earned Dennis a move to Nottingham Forest and things would only go downhill from here. Only two goals and two assists would follow in nineteen Premier League appearances the following season at the City Ground.
Turkey would be his next destination, as he made the move to Istanbul Basaksehir for the season. However, Dennis was unable to find the net in his four starts and four substitute appearances during the first half of the season.
Forest agreed to terminate the loan deal so Dennis could return to Watford for the second half of the campaign. During his return, Dennis would score four goals in seventeen Championship matches and return to Nottingham Forest once again.
Finally, the Nigeria International would join Blackburn Rovers for the latter half of last season as they fought for a playoff spot. Unfortunately, Blackburn would miss out on the playoffs and Dennis wouldn’t score a single goal.
In his defence, he only started one game and come off the bench six times, totalling 156 minutes of football. He would provide one assist and receive one red card during his time at Ewood Park.
So where should Dennis go next?
Watford
A fairly unlikely move considering the fact that Dennis has gone back to Watford once already but who knows, maybe the two sides could come to an agreement.
Hull City
A more sensible one considering the transfer restrictions that Hull currently find themselves under, Dennis could add some depth to their attacking ranks, especially with the Tigers currently sat 17th in the Championship table.
