Eric Ramsay has been linked with the vacant manager position at West Bromwich Albion.

Eric Ramsay has been linked with an appointment at West Bromwich Albion, who recently sacked Ryan Mason following a disappointing run of form.
Albion, who currently sit 18th in the Championship, are understood to have Ramsay as a strong contender to become the new manager, according to TalkSport.
With these links made, this piece outlines Ramsay’s career path and the journey he has been on since starting club management.
Starting out at Loughborough University, Rasmay graduated with a first-class degree in Sports Science.
Following this, he moved to Swansea City to be the Lead Professional Development Coach for nearly four years, before joining Shrewsbury Town as an academy manager in 2017.
Whilst with Town, he had a spell as interim manager before, in 2019, he moved to Chelsea to be an Under-23s manager.
He then joined Manchester United in 2021 as a Player Development Coach, working under managers such as Erik Ten Hag whilst becoming a more important coach.
Whilst with the Red Devils, Eric Ramsay also was the assistant manager of Wales, a role he held for six months before leaving to focus on United.
Then, in January 2024, he was hired as the head coach of Minnesota United (of the Major Soccer League).
Whilst with the outfit, he has won 34 games (out of 81) and has also had an average of 1.6 points per match. However, with links to Albion emerging, he could soon leave America and come back to England.
To look at Albion’s current situation, I spoke with Lower Tiers writer and West Brom fan Barri Lines who stated that the club is “a mess, but not an ugly mess.”
Lines also stated that Albion are “struggling with recovering from the Chinese ownership and we can’t really spend that much, meaning recruitment is limited and mainly loans.”
Speaking specifically about former manager Mason, he stated: “It’s a sad sight, there is a good manager inside him but it’s not clicking ultimately and a need for change is desperate.”
As previously stated, the side are 18th in the Championship and sit just seven points away from 22nd placed Norwich City currently.
With an average of 1.6 points per match with Minnesota United, Ramsay’s record can not be understated.
Furthermore, if he was to carry this record over to England, he could help guide West Brom away from the relegation zone and towards safety.
Meanwhile, with a 5-4-1 set-up whilst at Minnesota, Ramsay would bring a complete change to Mason’s 4-2-3-1 formation which could help to bring new perspectives and ideas to the club whilst helping to bring players back to confidence.
If this was to occur, fans may get back on side with the club, which could aid the club going into the latter stages of the season and, subsequently, the summer break.
However, nothing has been decided yet, and fans will have to wait to see who their new manager will be.
