Middlesbrough Win Race For Aston Villa Defender

Middlesbrough have won the race for an Aston Villa defender as the side look to add to their squad in the transfer window.

Middlesbrough look to be one of the sides that could be on their way to the Premier League following the conclusion of this season.

The outfit, who are currently second in the Championship, have excelled under the leadership of Kim Hellberg so far this season and have picked up 46 points in their fixtures so far this season.

However, the race for the second automatic promotion spot (which Boro currently occupy) has not been tighter than it is currently with just three points separating second and fifth placed Millwall.

Furthermore, the side appear to have hit a rough patch of form with them recently knocked out of the FA Cup against Fulham whilst winning just one of their last five in the Championship.

With this in mind, Middlesbrough may look to use the January transfer window to gain more depth and quality in their squad (which could be key in the final run-in towards the back end of the campaign and in regaining good form in the coming weeks).

So far in the window, Boro have signed Leo Castledine from Chelsea, following the midfielder having a loan spell at Huddersfield Town in the first-half of the season.

Meanwhile, Kim Hellberg’s side also welcomed Law McCabe back to the club following his loan spell at Plymouth Argyle during the first half of the season.

Now, it appears that Middlesbrough are close to completing another January signing with journalist Pete O’Rourke stating that the side have won the race to sign Finley Monroe, via his X account.

Furthermore, the journalist has stated that Bristol City also made a move for the defender but Monroe has chosen a move to Boro instead of Bristol.

Now, fans may look towards Middlesbrough for an official unveiling of Finley Monroe in the coming days or weeks.
