Five Hotshot Free Agents From League One

Kwame Poku- Peterborough United

Poku is a young exciting winger who I believe has been better than Peterborough for a while now and this season proves it more than anything with the starlet getting 20 goals and assists from 25 games despite Posh performing poorly all season now. The 23-year-old has certainly impressed and I believe deserves a move upwards, he’s simply too good for this league. His silky skills and mesmerising dribbles have certainly earned him a move up the ladder.

Josh Koroma – Huddersfield Town

The 26-year-old striker has had a decent campaign finding the net 8 times in 34 games whilst having a total of 74 shots. He’s been some threat that’s for sure. From being an outsider in the squad not so long ago finding himself out on loan at most recently Portsmouth for the first half of the 22/23 season he has been fairly inconsistent in the team selection decisions at the Yorkshire outfit with the Sierra Leone international only managing to start 24 games out of 34 total appearances in the League this season. Despite all this I think that there is a quality player still in Josh Koroma and should he decide to leave on expiry on his contract he will undoubtedly receive interest.

Sean Roughan- Lincoln City

Sean Roughan has certainly been nothing short of an incredible defender this season, he has racked up a total of 3870 minutes in 34 appearances this campaign and he shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. His versatility has also made him stand out from the rest this season especially paired with his relentless work rate. He’s an ideal defender for any team in my opinion which has coincidentally gained him a lot of interest from teams higher up should he leave the Imps.

Malik Wilks- Rotherham United/Sheffield Wednesday

The journeyman has had an unforgettable season which has the potential to revive his career after a disappointing and frustrating time at The Owls leading up to his Loan to the Millers. He has been incredible in front of goal this season netting 9 times under two different managers (Steve Evans and Matt Hamshaw). The Rotherham faithful have certainly been impressed with him as he became a hit with supporters. His future is truly uncertain as he could end up literally anywhere but should he leave the Owls a return to League One would in my opinion be best for the 26-year-old.

Amadou Salif Mbengue- Reading Fc

The Senegalese Centre Back has been immense this season with his rock-solid defensive displays guiding the Royals to 7th place currently and have them fighting for a play off spot despite all the controversy off the field as they fight to secure their future. Mbengue has appeared 31 times this campaign and has impressed all this season, his main flaw though has been his discipline with him picking up 10 yellow cards this season, despite that he does deserve a move upwards with reported interest from the likes of Championship duo Blackburn Rovers and Watford looking to pick up the 23-year-old.
