On Sunday, Fleetwood Town confirmed the sacking of manager Pete Wild on their official club website. The former Barrow man oversaw six defeats in his last seven games, with the 2-1 defeat to Colchester United on Saturday being the final straw for the board at Highbury.
Former Notts County manager Stuart Maynard is now at York City, where he is succeeding. The Minstermen sit top of the National League, losing just twice in 28 games as Maynard stamps his authority on the side.
At County his win rate was only 1.36 pints per game, this has improved massively at York, 2.24 points per game. Could Maynard be looking for another crack at league football and if so could it be with the Cod Army?
54-year-old Maamria would not be the first name on Fleetwood Town fans lips. At Burton Albion he only managed 1.37 points per game. At Oldham Athletic it was worse with just 1.16 points per game.
Could an opportunity at Fleetwood Town be what is needed for Maamria to succeed in management? And could his experience be just what the Cod Army need?
Former Huddersfield Town boss Lee Grant was only let go by the Terriers on the 17th January, the 3-1 defeat to Burton Albion being the final straw. The West Yorkshire side sat in sixth position at the time but the board want promotion so Grant was the scapegoat.
In his 36 games, Grant won 17 games. It’s unlikely this one but we all know managers don’t like to be out of work for long. Could Grant be set for an immediate return to league football?
Former Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson had four separate spells with Posh, managing them for over 600 games, winning over 200 games for the club. Spells at Preston North End and Doncaster Rovers were sandwiched in the middle.
Could the Scot be tempted into a move up north and a route back into management with Fleetwood Town?
Watch this space Cod Army fans, things are about to get very interesting!
