Birmingham City are approaching the closing stages of their first season back in the Championship, following a record breaking campaign in League One last year.

So far this season, the Blues have picked up 42 points and have won eleven games, leaving them 13th following their first 30 games of the season.

However, with the winter window still open, Birmingham could look to recruit to improve their squad and their chances of a higher finish.

So far this month, the club have signed a variety of players including August Priske and Kai Wagner, helping to improve the depth of their squad whilst helping to add desirable qualities to the Blues’ ranks.

However, now it appears that the club has missed out on a target with them set to join a club currently competing at the top of the Championship.

Frank Onyeka has agreed to sign for Coventry City on an initial loan from Premier League outfit Brentford, pending a medical according to Lyall Thomas on X.

The journalist has also revealed that the deal will become a permanent transfer if the Sky Blues are promoted this season to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Thomas has also confirmed that Onyeka had interest from both Birmingham City and Valencia among other clubs.

Frank Onyeka has made six appearances for the Bees in the Premier League this season, providing one assist but not any goals.

However, with this latest report now emerging, it appears that Birmingham have missed on the services of the midfielder.

Now, Bluenoses supporters could turn towards the club to see if they make any business and confirm any signings during the course of deadline day.

But, with the window slamming shut at 7pm, Birmingham will have to be quick if they are to secure the services of anyone on a loan or permanent basis.
