Oldham Atheltic and Gillingham have joined the race alongside a Scottish Premier League club for a non-league winger who is in sensational form for his club.
League Two duo Oldham Athletic and Gillingham have joined Scottish Premier League side Dundee United in their pursuit of Forest Green Rovers winger Kyle McAllister.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke has confirmed the news on his X account as the trio chase the goal-scoring winger who has eleven goals and five assists for his club this season.
Here we take a look at his career:
McAllister played 53 times for St Mirren, where he scored once and gained a further five assists for the club.
It was this sort of form that alerted then League One club Forest Green Rovers.
McAllister joined the Rams on loan in 2019 but never made an appearance for the club and returned to St Mirren.
During a loan spell in 2022, the 27-year-old made three appearances for Thistle but never scored a goal for the club.
In 2022/23, McAllister would join FGR where he would remain for the next four seasons.
In his debut campaign he played 39 games and scored one and assisted a further three as he settled in at the Gloucestershire-based club.
Since then he’s appeared over 100 times, scoring 25 goals and gaining a further 20 assists. Impressive form!
It sounds silly to say but his goal involvements are the reason for the trio’s eyes to be on him. Gillingham and Oldham are both seeking a goalscorer who can also create.
With that being said, could a return home be what the 27-year-old craves?
Dundee United would be the ideal place for him to move closer to family and friends.
It’s totally understandable why the trio want McAllister, he’s lighting up the National League and at 27, this is surely his last chance to get back into league football!
What do you think? Who could you see McAllister joining out of Gillingham, Oldham and Dundee United?
