Grimsby Town have enquired about a Premier League defender as they look to beat a host of EFL sides to his signature
Grimsby Town look set to strengthen their squad even further, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
This comes off the back of my article yesterday about David Artell explaining omissions from the Mariners squad.
Arsenal defender Maldini Kacurri looks set to join the League Two side as they look to climb further up the League Two table.
20-year-old Kacurri is highly-rated at Arsenal but it is expected that a loan will get the defender more game time.
He has already spent the first half of the season on loan at Morecambe, where he appeared 18 times in all competitions, turning in several player of the match performances.
The Albanian has also had another loan spell, this time during 2024 with Bromley where he appeared three times for Andy Woodman’s side.
It is now thought that the central defender is ready for a move into the leagues and Grimsby appear to be heading the queue for him.
Grimsby Town currently sit in 10th position in League Two having won eleven, drawing seven and losing eight games, as they look to push further towards the playoff places.
Andy Cook and Tyrell Sellars-Fleming have already joined Grimsby Town this window, with Kacurri expected to join them.
Artell was forced to leave out first teamers Jamie Walker and Justin Amaluzor from his squad altogether as Town hit form, winning their last five matches in all competitions.
It’s a headache the manager will not mind at all, given that just a year ago he was naming scholars on the bench.
With Kacurri and Arsenal seeking a league move for the 20-year-old, Grimsby Town will have to act fast to secure his signature, especially with several other EFL sides making their own enquiries for the central defender.
This next loan move could prove to be pivotal for Kaccuri and his hopes with Arsenal.
