Premier League Clubs after Gus Hamer

With Sheffield United failing to return the Premier League at the first attempt, the top division was always going to come calling for certain players, with Gustavo Hamer being at the top of a number of teams wish list.

Everton and newly promoted Leeds United are main two teams after the Dutch player’s signature.

Hamer left Coventry City for Sheffield United in 2023 after the team lost in the playoff final against Luton Town. Premier League football was the pull then and is still said to be at the forefront of the player’s desire.

In the Blades last top-flight campaign, the now 27-year-old played every game in the division, before doing the same this season back in the Championship, being named the divisions player of the season.

Unfortunately for United, they could not get past youthful Sunderland in this year’s playoff final (Hamer’s second playoff final loss), leaving them at risk of losing players to the Premier League, with Hamer looking like target No. 1.

Fellow Yorkshire side Leeds United have been admirers of the midfielder since 2024, with preliminary discussions being held last summer for the player. Whilst no deal materialised at the time, United will believe the pulling power of the Premier League can get hold of the player this time around.

Everton is the biggest name with concrete interest in the player. David Moyes is need of midfield reinforcements with Abdoulaye Doucoure departing the club and discussions on-going with loanee, Carlos Alcaraz.

Leeds will be hoping Hamer’s former teammate Jayden Bogle can help sway his decision, whilst the blue side of Merseyside will believe their Premier League prowess can bring him to the club.

London sides Fulham and Brentford are also said to be closely following Hamer, but it is not yet known whether either side’s interest is set in stone.

27-year-old Hamer is reportedly available for £15-20 million, making him very good value in today’s market.

Should offers be received, it will be up to Hamer to decide whether t return to the Premier League or go for promotion again with Sheffield United.
