Huddersfield Town fought back in their clash against Blackpool to claim an inspiring draw which extended Liam Manning’s extended run at the club.

Liam Manning extended his unbeaten to start to life at Huddersfield Town following a set of inspired substitutions at the Accu Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

For the first three quarters of the game, it was all going the way of Ian Evatt’s Blackpool, who were well on their way to a textbook away victory.

The Terriers had their initial chances early through Dion Charles nailing the near post, and then turning provider for Bali Mumba at the back post, who couldn’t steer the ball into the open goal from a difficult angle.

Blackpool then took the game by the scruff of the neck through talisman Ashley Fletcher from a somewhat unique corner routine in which eventually the striker was there to flick his shot underneath Lee Nicholls to make it 1-0 to the Tangerines.

Nine minutes later, with their second shot on target of the game, Blackpool made it 2-0 thanks to a Karoy Anderson header, finishing delightfully from a perfect cross put in by Reuell Walters.

At that point, it seemed certain that Manning was about to lose his unbeaten record at his new club. However his trust in Marcus Harness, alongside brilliantly made substitutions, paid off massively.

Both Huddersfield Town goals were well made headers from close range.

The first, which injected energy and hope into the stadium was powered off the head of Harness through the hands of Bailey Peacock-Farrell and into the top-right-corner.

Then, in the 88th minute, it was Cameron Ashia from the bench who rose the highest at the back post to head home and rescue a point from the jaws of defeat for the hosts, rewarding the fans who didn’t stop backing them throughout the 90 minutes despite their immense frustration for the most part.

Huddersfield showed the fight in the last 15 minutes that they will require in order to be promoted from this division come May, and will leave fans remaining confident under Manning, proven by the buzz around the place in the final 15 minutes.

Also, the Tangerines travelling back across the Pennines can be proud of their team today, they took the fight to a strong third tier outfit, whilst recent additions impressed.

Ultimately, they came up narrowly short of taking all three points back to the seaside, but have given their supporters plenty of reason to be hopeful and excited for the remainder of the season.
