Huddersfield Town vs Stevenage – Who Could Achieve The Win In League 1?

It’s fifth vs first in League One on Saturday as Stevenage look to keep their one hundred percent record as they travel to West Yorkshire to face promotion favourites Huddersfield Town at the Accu Stadium in EFL League One.

Recent Form

Stevenage head into this game with a perfect start in League One with four wins from four games, a 3-2 win over Blackpool, a 1-0 win against Rotherham, a 2-0 win over Northampton, and a smash-and-grab 2-1 win over Port Vale.

Huddersfield are also on good form with three wins and only one defeat so far this season with a 3-0 win over Leyton Orient, a 2-0 win over Reading and a 2-0 win over Doncaster with the only blemish being a 3-2 loss against Blackpool.

Head-to-Head

The two sides have only met four times in competitive action, twice last season and twice in the 2011-2012 season and it has been one-sided with three wins and one draw with last season resulting in two 2-1 wins for the Terriers.

Stevenage Team News

The Boro will still be without Jake Young, who picked up an injury during the last preseason fixture, Tyreece Simpson who will miss the rest of the season, and Louis Thompson.

Stevenage will look to keep the same side that has brought them to the top of the table so far this season, as only one change has been made in the first four league games, which happened in the previous game, as Phoenix Patterson came in for Chem Campbell.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Lee Grants has got a full squad at their disposal and after a great derby win over Doncaster, expect minimal changes for Saturday.

Possible Lineup

GK- Owen Goodman RB- Lynden Gooch CB- Josh Feeney CB- Joseph Low LB- Murray Wallace LDM- Herbie Kane RDM-Ryan Ledson LM-Ruben Roosken  RM-Murcus Harness  CAM-Leo Castledine ST- Alfie May

Key Players

Stevenage will be looking to their striker Jamie Reid, who has been on fire, scoring five goals in four games this season, including a last-minute double against Port Vale last time out to win the game, and now being recalled to the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup Qualifiers against Luxembourg and Germany and he will look to continue his hot form this weekend.

Another player to look out for is the Boro Skipper Carl Piergianni who has been a mainstay in the side since his arrival in 2022 and has been central to the successes of the Stevenage side.

Huddersfield Town, however, will be looking to one of their summer signings Alfie May who has had a steady start with a goal and assist to his belt, but League One defences know what Alfie May can do with the past couple of years, firstly with Charlton when he bagged 27 goals becoming League One’s top scorer and then with the record breaking Birmingham City team scoring 17 goals during the title winning season.

Another member of the Huddersfield Town side Joseph Low who joined the side from Wycombe Wanderers and has a ever-present this season, getting a goal and being a part of the defence that has kept three clean sheets.

Prediction

Both sides are bang in form, which was expected for Huddersfield; however not so much for the Boro and I think the 100 percent run will end here for Stevenage as the Terriers are rightfully up there as promotion favourites, and i think they will have too much for Stevenage on Saturday.
