Ipswich Town Academy Roundup: Young Blues on the Move

Ipswich Town’s academy has seen another active week of movement, with several young players returning from loan spells, others heading back out, and one highly rated prospect signing his first professional contract.

As the club continues to prioritise senior minutes and structured development for its next generation.

Onuchukwu and Eze Return to Portman Road

Defensive midfielder Abube Onuchukwu has returned after a month at Billericay Town, where he made three appearances.

The 20‑year‑old also spent time at Chelmsford City earlier in the season, though a leg injury limited him to just one outing.

Onuchukwu joined Ipswich from Aston Villa in the summer of 2024 and is expected to head back out on loan as he continues to build senior experience.

Forward Nelson Eze, standing at 6ft 6in, is also back at the club following his spell at Dartford.

The 18‑year‑old made four appearances for the Isthmian Premier Division side in what was his first taste of senior football.

Eze joined the Blues from Norwich City in 2023 and signed his first professional deal in December 2024.

Boatswain Joins Gateshead for National League Test

Defender Ashley Boatswain has secured a move to National League side Gateshead.

The 19‑year‑old has already gained non‑league experience and now steps into a higher‑level environment as he continues his progression.

Mauge Returns to Bury Town on Loan

Midfielder Jamie Mauge has re‑joined Bury Town on loan, returning to a familiar setting where he previously impressed. The move should offer consistent minutes in a competitive environment.

Olawole Signs First Professional Contract

Highly rated winger Kellyan Olawole has signed his first professional contract with Ipswich Town. The 17‑year‑old has been one of the standout performers in the academy system and is viewed as a long‑term prospect with significant potential.

Oudnie‑Morgan Heads to Havant & Waterlooville

Midfielder Rio Oudnie‑Morgan has completed a loan move to Havant & Waterlooville, offering him another opportunity to test himself in senior football. The 19‑year‑old has already had previous non‑league experience and continues to build his physical and tactical maturity.
