“It Will Turn At Some Point” – Exeter City Midfielder Remains Optimistic

Exeter City midfielder Jack McMillan insists the Grecians form will turn at some point, following the heavy 5-1 defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers.

Gary Caldwell left the side recently to join fellow League One side Wigan Athletic. Since Caldwell’s departure, Exeter City have drawn two and only lost in that humiliating defeat to the Trotters.

Quotes From The Exeter City Midfielder

“It’s disappointing in there,” McMillan said speaking to Devon Live: “The mood in the changing room isn’t great. 5-1 isn’t nice. If I’m honest, I don’t think it’s a 5-1 game.

I think I had spells in the game, especially that second start of the second half where we scored the first on the back in the foot of 10 minute spell maybe I thought we were going to get the second and put pressure on them.

“But they scored goals at key times. We had that bit of momentum at 2-1. If we get that second, we probably go on to win it, but they scored that third from a second play.

And that kind of kills the game and I thought they controlled the game from then. It sucked the life out of us and overall they were worthy of the three points and a well drilled team.

“I thought they came here and were excellent, you can see why they’re up at the top end of the table.”

“That’s probably been our foundation from our good period that we did have in January, so that’s something we need to get back to probably back to basics,” McMillan said regarding the need for more clean sheets.

“It will turn at some point, and it’s just small margins so if we keep putting the work in, it will turn at some point.

“It’s tight as anything but now we need to, obviously, look at ourselves tomorrow, recover and hopefully put a run together starting on Tuesday.”
