St Mirren Close In On Signing Of Stevenage Attacking Player

St Mirren are closing in on their latest signing with the Stevenage forward set to join the Scottish club in the coming days.

Stevenage FC

St Mirren are one of the sides that are competing in the Scottish Premiership this season, as they strive for success alongside other teams such as Rangers and Celtic.

Mirren, who are tenth in the league currently, have picked up 18 points in their twenty games so far this season and have won four games in this period.

Furthermore, having also drawn six games, the side are currently four points away from eleventh placed Kilmarnock and are eight points away from last place Livingston.

But, with two games on hand on most of the the teams around them, the outfit may look to build a bigger gap between themselves and the bottom which could aid them in the run-in later in the season.

Meanwhile, another way in which St Mirren could look to build a bigger gap is through recruiting smartly in the January transfer window, which is currently open to clubs around Scotland.

Now, it appears that the Scottish outfit are close to completing their next signing with them agreeing a deal to sign Stevenage forward Jake Young, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke on his X account.

O’Rourke has also stated that the forward has passed his medical for what will be a permanent move.

Meanwhile, he has also revealed that the deal will be finalised later this week.

Young moved to Stevenage in 2024 and made 36 appearances for Boro last season in League One, scoring four times and assisting once.

However, this season, the former Bradford City man has struggled for game-time with him only making six appearances across all competitions for the League One outfit.

With this in mind, a move to St Mirren could be the perfect opportunity to gain more game-time and aid Mirren in their mission for success.

Meanwhile, the move may also benefit Young personally as he will be experiencing football in a Scottish environment for the first time after experiencing football in England for the entirety of his career.

Now, fans of St Mirren may look towards the club to see when they unveil Jake Young officially and what the terms of his contract may be.
