Leicester City And Wrexham To Battle For Non-League Star

Championship sides Leicester City and Wrexham are both interested in Oxford City sensation, Jayden Carbon.

As most non-league strikers are, 19-year-old Carbon has been likened to Jamie Vardy and could follow the same path should he choose to join Leicester.

Vardy played for Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town at the top end of non-league before joining the Foxes and going on to score 200 goals for the club.

Carbon is enjoying a breakout season with Oxford City, being the top-scoring teenager in the National League North last season, with six goals.

Both Leicester and Wrexham are said to be tracking the progress of the youngster, with either team likely to make an offer to the player in the next six months.

The Foxes are looking to build up their youth prospects once again after falling out of the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The club, now without a manager after sacking Ruud van Nistelrooy, are yet to make an impact in the market as they look to make a go of returning to the topflight.

Should they choose to take a chance of the young Carbon, it would reflect a favoured process, with the club not afraid to take talent from non-league.

Whilst Leicester’s last trajectory was down, Wrexham’s has only been up. Under Phil Parkinson the club have had three successive promotions leading them to the Championship.

The Welsh side have been looking to make a splash, with them linked to several Premier League players and even adding former fox, Danny Ward.

Carbon is a raw player, packed with pace and will certainly be ready for league football in the coming months. Both sides will be hoping he chooses one of them if his form continues.
