Birmingham City are one of the sides that are approaching the closing months of the Championship season.

The Bluenoses, 14th in the English second tier ahead of their trip to Sheffield Wednesday tonight, had been record breaking in League One last season but have struggled to hit the same numbers this season.

With this in mind, Birmingham could look at the January transfer window (which is currently underway) as an opportunity to boost their squad and improve their chances of a higher finish come the end of the campaign.

So far this month, the Blues have signed Kai Wagner from MLS side Philadelphia Union, a signing that will help to improve the Birmingham squad in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, City have signed signed midfielder Jhon Solis and winger Ibrahim Osman.

Now, having already signed two players from Brighton in this transfer window, Birmingham City had agreed a deal for Jeremy Sarmiento according to journalist Lorenzo Lepore.

Lepore has also revealed that a potential move to Middlesbrough collapsed after the clubs failed to agree on a fee, despite personal terms having been agreed between Boro and Sarmiento.

Sarmiento plays for the wing for Brighton currently and has been at Cremonese during the first half of the season where he made seven appearances.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old was part of the squad that Burnley were promoted with last season whilst he also has experience with sides such as West Bromwich Albion and Ipswich Town.

Now, with this news revealed, supporters may look towards Birmingham to see if manager Chris Davies comments on the links between the Bluenoses and Jeremy Sarmiento.

Furthermore, fans may also look towards the club to see when an official announcement may occur should the winger agree fully with a move to the Championship outfit this month.
