Kai Jennings, born in London, has raised many eyebrows as of late, having hit the ground running in the National League with former League 2 side Sutton United.
Who is Kai Jennings?
Kai Jennings, 18 years old, is an AFC Wimbledon academy graduate who has recently penned his first professional deal with the Dons.
Jennings later went on to make his first professional appearance in 2023 in Wimbledon’s 5-1 home victory over Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup.
He then appeared two more times in the EFL Trophy. He finished his 2023/2024 campaign at Whitehawk on loan, where he would also play during the 24/25 campaign.
Overall, he made 37 appearances, scoring 6 goals.
Jumping to the start of the 25/26 campaign, Jennings secured a loan move to National League South outfit Farnborough FC.
Although Jennings’ time was cut short in Hampshire after being recalled in early October, he made nine appearances for Farnborough, failing to net a goal or assist.
After returning to his parent club, the central midfielder swiftly found himself straight out on loan to Sutton United.
This has since proved to be a delightful loan spell so far, having appeared five times but scoring three and grabbing one assist.
Future ability and chances at Wimbledon
Jennings is clearly a gem, a player whom Wimbledon will want to keep a close eye on, making sure he develops into a future star midfielder for the Dons.
At only 18 years of age, Jennings has already made a statement in the top level of Non-League, which raises the question, why wouldn’t he be able to do it in the football league?
Having already made five senior appearances for AFC Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson clearly sees something in the Englishman.
All in all, the sky is the limit for Jennings if he continues his magnificent form in the National League, stays fit and has the drive to improve.
We will be seeing him in the football league in no time.
