MK Dons, Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City are amongst a trio of clubs who are all chasing Bolton Wanderers forward Aaron Collins.
Wanderers failed to reach the end of season bonanza for the first time in 3 years this time around, finishing eighth in League One, 10 points behind sixth placed Leyton Orient. Collins had a fruitful season though, scoring 12 goals and winning the clubs player of the season award.
Bolton boss Steven Schumacher will be desperate to keep hold of one of his most prized assets following Collins arrival from Bristol Rovers for a reported £750,000 fee nearly 18 months ago when he was signed by then boss Ian Evatt.
MK have already been busy this summer with the arrivals of Rushian Hepburn-Murphy and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing as they throw everything at getting themselves out of the bottom division, with morearrivals expected. If Collins were to leave, Bolton would surely want at least £1m for the Welshman who has scored 28 times in 77 appearances since his move to Lancashire. John McAtee and Klaidi Lolos could possibly bridge any gap left if Collins was to depart but would the club allow him to leave?
Huddersfield appear to be another club linked with the 28 year old and they’ve been busy themselves this summer, former Ipswich boss Lee Grant has joined as the new main man at the John Smiths stadium and they’ve signed Marcus Harness, Sean Roughan and Joe Low in the past few weeks following their own mid table finish this season.
Collins missed just the one game last season, making 45 appearances and his contract doesn’t run out until June 2027 so if this happens then whoever gets the Newport-born man will have to pay whatever Bolton demand for a forward who knows how to hit the net. Before his move to Wanderers, Collins had managed 62 goal contributions in 139 appearances during his time at Bristol Rovers.
It is speculated that Mk Dons are the frontrunners for his signature but with the trio all fighting it out, watch this space!
