Leif Davis Left Frustrated After Ipswich Town Held by Leicester City

Leif Davis admitted Ipswich Town were left “very frustrated” after drawing 1-1 with Leicester City, pointing to a lack of “consistency” from referee John Busby.

The Blues recovered well from Patson Daka’s opener and equalised through Sindre Walle Egeli, but felt they were denied a stoppage‑time penalty when Hamza Choudhury clipped Cedric Kipré.

The incident sparked anger both in the stands and on the pitch, with emotions spilling over at the final whistle.

Team Should Have Taken Their Chances

Despite the controversy, Davis stressed that Ipswich had enough opportunities to win the match outright.

“It was very frustrating, as you saw at the full-time whistle,” he said.

Davis added: “Everyone was frustrated, but that’s football. We can’t change that decision now.”

He added that Town needed to be more clinical. “We should have put the game to bed as well. We had a lot of chances… we can’t just go straight to the referee and blame him.”

“A lot of chances from corners, a few from open play. You can point the finger, but we do have to score in those parts of the game as well.”

Concerns Over Refereeing Consistency

Davis didn’t hide his disappointment with the late decision.

“It’s frustrating not to get the penalty at the end. The consistency isn’t there at all, but what can you do?”

He reiterated that Ipswich should have been ahead long before the incident. “We should have taken the three points from the game without that incident.”

Squad Reaction Shows Togetherness

While the players were visibly furious at full-time, Davis praised the squad’s ability to reset quickly.

“We’ve got a good group of lads who are level-headed,” he said.

Continuing, the defender stated: “We spoke about it, but now we’ve got to focus on Tuesday night.”

He again highlighted the inconsistency he felt from officials. “I don’t think it’s there from them, personally, but that’s just an opinion. We can’t change that.”

“We had opportunities to take all three points, not just from that last part of the game.”

Looking Ahead After a Strong Week

Ipswich took seven points from three consecutive home matches, and Davis acknowledged the positives despite the frustration.

Speaking to the press, Leif Davis explained: “Three points would’ve been incredible. It would’ve finished off a great week for us.”

Attention now turns to Stoke City. “We’ve just got to get our head down and focus on Tuesday night. They were one of the better footballing teams we’ve played this season.”

Belief and Spirit Growing Inside the Squad

Leif Davis ended on an optimistic note, praising the unity and resilience shown by the team. “You can see the spirit between the boys. A few months ago, we probably wouldn’t have got that goal. Today, we looked together as a team.”

“That’s the confidence from the last few weeks. We had a big chat about finding belief among the team. Three home games have been good — it would’ve been nice to take the three points today.”
